Palm Springs International ShortFest 2016
The Palm Springs International ShortFest is the largest short film festival in North America, screening over 325 short films annually that are selected from 3,000 submissions from 50 countries. ShortFest is recognized as a prime scouting ground for new talent and has a reputation for launching emerging film-makers’ careers and attracting key US entertainment industry executives.
One of only a handful of Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying festivals in the country, ShortFest has proudly screened 94 films that have gone on to receive Academy Award nominations, ensuring the Festival attracts only the highest quality films for an avid fan base of 25,000 attendees.
ShortFest hosts an Australia Day screening as part of the Festival. This all-Australian screening showcases the best short films produced by emerging Australian talent. The screening attracts crowds of over 500 and showcases Australian film to leading industry experts.
Following the screening, the Australian Consul-General Los Angeles and Ausfilm invite the film makers and a select group of US industry representatives - studio executives, film buyers, producers and directors - to a private reception to celebrate and mentor the young film makers, promote Australian film expertise and showcase Australian tourism and food and wine.
Filmmakers, studio executives, industry associations, film investors, producers, directors, tourism industry representatives, consumers and intellectual property exporters.
